Complaint policy

To view the process of how the NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board manages its formal complaints please see the complaints, concerns, comments, and compliments policy

Who should I make a complaint to?

We encourage complaints to be directed to the provider of the care or service you wish to complain about, for example directly to the hospital trust if about care provided at a hospital, or to your GP if relating to care received from your practice. This will normally be the most effective method of complaining as it minimises the need for information to be passed between organisations and the time taken by this.

If you feel uncomfortable or distressed about complaining directly to your healthcare provider, or feel this is not appropriate for another reason, Wakefield District Health & Care Partnership can receive and coordinate the complaint. When a complaint is received, the Complaints Coordinator will inform the complainant of their options and facilitate the complainant’s choice.

Please note that if you have a complaint about a primary care provider (GPs, dentist, optician or pharmacy) please contact:

Email: wyicb.complaints@nhs.net

Telephone: 01924 552 150*

In writing: Complaints Team, West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, White Rose House West Parade, Wakefield WF1 1LT

*Monday to Friday 9 to 5 p.m. excluding bank holidays.

Further details about primary care complaints can be found on the NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board website (opens external website).

You can raise your concerns immediately by speaking with or contacting the staff involved in your care where you received the treatment.

Please note, if you have submitted a complaint directly to one of our providers and an investigation has started, the complaint cannot be investigated by the Wakefield District Health & Care Partnership. However, you can still provide us with a copy of your feedback which we will log for quality monitoring purposes.
