Wakefield District to celebrate Learning Disability achievements at awards ceremony

The achievements of people with learning disabilities in Wakefield District will be celebrated at a special awards ceremony held during Learning Disability Week (19-25 June, 2023).

The event will take place at Sandal Rugby Club on Thursday 22 June – and there is still time to nominate!

We would like to hear about how people with learning disabilities and their families have made a difference in their communities or have achieved personal goals, no matter how big or small.

There are six categories to nominate in: Making a Difference; Contribution to the Community; Promoting Learning Disability Awareness; Promoting Change; Most Creative; and Celebrating Achievements. Nominations can be made online ahead of the closing date of this Wednesday (24 May).

In making a nomination, please consider the nominee’s capacity to consent to taking part in the awards ceremony, including giving permission for their image to be used.

Together we want to show the incredible things that people with a learning disability achieve, smashing misconceptions about what people can do.
