Join the NHS LA Mentoring Hub as a mentor or a mentee

Open to all staff and volunteers working in Health and Social Care

Mentoring describes a relationship in which a more experienced colleague shares their knowledge to support the development of an inexperienced individual. It calls on the skills of questioning, listening, clarifying and reframing.

Indeed an effective mentoring relationship is where there are learning opportunities for both participants, encouraging joint sharing and learning.

A mentor might:

  • teach you about specific areas where you need more knowledge
  • help your career and professional development
  • challenge you to think beyond your comfort zone
  • focus on your development as an individual and as a professional
  • support you to strengthen and develop leadership skills in a time of rapid change
  • give you space to reflect on your own and others’ learning and leadership approaches

Visit the NHS Leadership Academy website to join the Hub (don’t forget to click on your organisation as Wakefield District Health and Care Partnership).
